BAMBURGH CASTLE
2022
In summer 2022 a new historical exhibition opened in the State Rooms at Bamburgh Castle, and I developed the two touch screen interactives as an integral part of this exhibition.
‘Excavate the Castle’ is an engaging touch screen interactive that gives visitors the opportunity to excavate two of the archaeological dig sites at the Castle, and discover some of the artefacts that have been recovered over the past few decades. Developed as a 4K, 3D isometric experience, the interactive lets visitors move between two trenches as well as rotating and zooming each trench. There are fifteen artefacts to be found across both trenches, discovered by digging away in the soil to gradually reveal them. Visitors are rewarded for each artefact they discover with information, photos and points.
‘Warriors of Bamburgh’ provides an insight into key battles in the history of the Castle and wider area, through a short game-based touch screen interactive. Visitors are presented with six different battles, and key statistics about each opponent. Visitors choose who they think will win each battle, before being presented with the outcome as a short animation.
